Providing personalized and mobile interactive classes that satisfy the Part 2 requirement/ Instructor-Led portion of the AAP/ AHA’s Neonatal Resuscitation Program.
The Neonatal Resuscitation Program is one that’s notorious for making learners nervous. It’s a very important skill with which most providers do NOT have much clinical experience. Some NRP trained providers don’t even routinely care for newborns! My goal is to help increase confidence in your NRP skills and break down the algorithm in a way that feels manageable. Simply NRP’s education is based on the AAP/ AHA’s NRP guidelines, but is tailored specifically to its learners. To best serve providers, I offer options such as mobile services, private classes and online education.

INITIAL ADVANCED CERTIFICATION

First time taking NRP?
Assistance is provided, as needed, in navigating the NRP’s Learning Platform/ NRP training process. Thorough and slower paced in-person education, including discussion of real life NRP scenarios and extra hands-on practice. Tailored to meet the needs of learner(s).
NO Essential provider option for Initial learners. Available as a private class for $195. Proof of completion of NRP’s Part 1 online learning is required prior to class. If you create a group of 3+ initial learners, a 10% discount is applied. Contact to schedule.
Suited for new grads, nursing students & new to specialty RNs and RTs.
PRIVATE ESSENTIAL/ ADVANCED RENEWAL

Prefer one on one instruction?
Personalized instruction tailored to meet the needs of the learner. Student may decide between virtual education prior to hands-on skills assessment or in-person education (class time varies accordingly).
Private Essential provider renewal is $120. NRP STAT rate of additional $50 applies to private renewals needed in <24 hours. Proof of completion of NRP’s Part 1 online learning is required. Contact to schedule.

GROUP ESSENTIAL/ ADVANCED RENEWAL

Experienced NRP provider looking for an efficient renewal option?
Currently only offering traditional in person review/ education during skills assessment. Class time <2 hours.
COMING SOON- Learners to view virtual education provided by Simply NRP, prior to hands-on skills assessment. In person time is <30 mins. Class size varies from 2-6 learners.
Group Essential provider renewal is $75. If you create a group of 3+ learners, a 10% discount is applied. Proof of completion of NRP’s Part 1 online learning is required. Look for available classes on the NRP Learning Platform or contact to schedule.

Details
Essential vs Advanced Provider
Beware that the AAP descriptions of which providers require each course, is usually very misleading. Typically MOST providers are required to take the Advanced course, with the common exception being Lactation RNs. Please check with your leadership to verify which course is required for your position.
Instructor Travel Time
If you would like to choose your class location, please map your desired location from the OrangeTheory in Poway. Travel >16 miles from this location will result in an additional travel fee of $10 per additional 5 miles.
Payment & Refunds
I accept cash, Venmo & tap payments. Payment to be collected prior to class. Please provide 24 hr notice of cancellation to avoid charge. No-show students or late cancellations will be charged $40. No refunds on payments made.
Continuing Education & E-Cards
I provide 4 CE’s for my classes, as recognized by the California Board of Registered Nursing. Upon completion of my class, you will be able to log onto your NRP Learning Platform to access your AAP/ AHA provider e-card.
Fees for NRP STAT & Other Options
If you need a provider renewal in <24 hours time, an additional $50 fee applies. Private classes are $45 more than groups, and Essential provider’s classes are $40 less than Advanced.
Virtual Education
You will be provided a link to watch my review video, which highlights NRP’s most common/ important interventions, discusses realistic scenarios & prepares you for the hands-on assessment that will be done in person. A simple 5 question quiz is to be completed afterwards and brought to your in-person class.
Employer Reimbursement
A receipt will be provided to submit to your employer for education reimbursement, as applicable. Please be aware that additional fees (i.e. NRP STAT, travel fee) may not be eligible for reimbursement.
Class Locations
Classes will be held at locations such as a library, park or private residence.
Classmates
Classes will be limited to <6 learners, in order to best provide personalized education to all. Feel free to form renewal groups with co-workers at a time that’s convenient (i.e. before shifts/ prior to a unit gathering). 10% discount offered if group is made of 3+ learners.
Classes Outside of SD County
Contact me if you live outside of San Diego county and desire to renew with me. Only group Advanced renewals >3 students will be considered.
A little about me…
I’m Chaela (pronounced “Shayla”), married to my best friend, mom to two zesty teenagers and a stubborn Labradoodle, a SDSU alum, and an OB RN with over 20 years of experience at Sharp Mary Birch Hospital for Women and Newborns in San Diego, California.
Teaching NRP skills classes honestly fell into my lap. I was asked by the owner of a local continuing education provider if I had ever considered teaching. Indeed, I had… but never NRP. NRP was a topic that always made me quite nervous! But after some light persuasion and soul searching, I agreed to give it a try and haven’t looked back since! I quickly discovered that my background in a variety of OB settings gives me a unique perspective to relate to most all NRP providers and understand their specialty’s knowledge base.
Currently, when I don scrubs, I can primarily be found caring for high risk antepartum patients… otherwise you’ll still encounter me teaching NRP at Nurses Educational Opportunities in San Diego, or in my garden… always check the garden!
